This is an absolute gem of a novel. Tally is probably my new favorite character of all time. And I don't say that lightly. This is a brilliant book. It would be a crying shame if it's the last we see of Tally and Blair. I cannot possibly recommend this book enough. It is *that* good.
This was an amazing yarn of mystery, intrigue, and local culture that Ms Spooned created. At times, I could hardly put it down but yet was almost afraid to keep going because I had no idea what the next bizarre event would happen. Ms Spooned is an excellent author in my opinion.
Loved how the story developed, the well developed characters and the flow of the action. The interactions between Tally and JD are one of the best aspects of this story and set it apart from others like it.
I am a bit of a lurker when it comes to book reviews BUT I had to capture just how much I liked this book. The author quickly establishes the quirky main character and then adds lots of drama and heart stopping action, add in a love story and you have a good book. The story leaves you guessing all the way to the end. I am hoping the author will continue the story.
I'm not very good at writing individual reviews because I tend to accidentally give away spoilers and plot points so I
figured I would write out a generic review instead and save myself the time and trouble. If I am putting this review on a
book it means that I found it to be truly exceptional and I enjoyed the journey very much, so thank you to the Author for
putting a great story down on the pages.
I have read many of Miss Spooner's books but none as gritty as this one. Tally Rainwater has the gift of 2nd sight and one of the visions asks her to help find her killer. Tally has never known what to do about these visions until given the purpose to find a killer. The book takes place in the Bayou, home of voodoo, spirits and the unknown. My favorite part was the interaction between the Tally and her visions. I got goose bumps and shed a few tears not to mention a few unusual dreams. The ending was amazing. I will not spoil this for you. Read the book.
This story captivated me from the very first page. The writing flowed and I never had to stop and question why something was happening. Ali's writing had me reading each line as if I was watching a scene in a movie. The serial killer story was engaging and I loved how it tied to Tally. All of the "authority figures" were so great that it made me wish I could drive to the south and meet them all in person...if they were real people of course (lol). But my favorite part was the interaction between the Tally and "visions". I got goose bumps and shed a few tears. At one point the story reminded me of watching The Ghostwhisper...I loved that show! Oh and the romance between Tally and Blair was very sweet! I usually like a longer build up to intimacy but the "soul mate" angle excuses that. Do yourself a favor and read this book!
